Love Your Skin with Lovegrove Essentials

If I had to choose one of my all time favourite skincare products that I love treating myself to, it’d be a face mask. I love nothing more than smothering the product all over my face, and kicking back doing absolutely nothing whilst I wait for my face to go stiff to the point it’s difficult to convey any facial expression to anyone who is lucky enough to see me in all my face mask glory in the house. Lush face masks are my usual go to, with the benefits I look for in such a product having to revolve around reducing redness, in addition to making my skin feel smooth as can be. After being approached by Lovegrove Essentials with the opportunity to try out their skincare essentials, inside I was jumping for joy at the thought of trying out new products for my skin. After a few back and forth messages detailing my skin type, problem areas and the type of products I tend to use, Lovegrove Essentials were eager for me to try out their brand new Clean and Natural Kit, so I agreed without hesitation at the thought of discovering products to add to my collection.
Coming in a lovely little lavender bag, the Clean and Natural Kit contains Lovegrove Essentials bestselling cleansing balm, alongside their newly launched aromatic face mask, two cloths (one for removing the mask with, and the other for removing the cleansing balm) and a brush for gently applying the mask with. Starting with the cleansing balm, you simply put a dollop in between your hands and rub them together until it turns into an oily liquid. Once it liquifies you massage it into your face and instantly feel its benefits. Not only does a spot of this take off your make-up, saving you from using wipes, but it also helps balance the oils on your skin, which for me is a major plus as I suffer from extremely oily skin.
The cleansing balm followed by the aromatic face mask will leave your skin feeling clean and natural, just like the title of this kit. As soon as you open the little pot, you are met with the most amazing, and soothing smell from the mask, and that’s one of the things both my mum and I pointed out. The smell of the aromatic face mask reminds me of all the lovely oils you’re greeted with when in a spa treatment room, and you instantly feel relaxed (for half the price of a spa too). Another special feature of the kit that I absolutely loved was the brush that you paint the mask on with, meaning you don’t end up with half the product on your fingers and you aren’t rubbing your fingers into your skin. A great tip, which the lovely Hayley behind Lovegrove Essentials suggested if you’re ever visiting a spa is to put the mask on before heading into the sauna as the heat from the sauna will open your pores and can allow impurities to escape from the skin. I done this recently and definitely felt the benefits of the mask to a much larger degree. This is a face mask I could see myself using on a more regular basis as I’ve never felt my skin as soft as it is after I take the aromatic face mask off. With both my mum and I using the set, the mask has sadly came to an end..but I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this kit as I can really see a difference in the texture of my skin.

Costing £24.95 this is a great little kit and with it not taking up much room, could be the perfect travel companion for taking care of your skin while you’re travelling or if you’re constantly on the go and find it difficult to spare a moment to treat yourself. Next on my list to try out is their moisture cream and the healing touch serum as I’ve heard the serum is really good for scarring. What are your go to skincare products?

My Diet Chef Journey

After the festive period guilt is the one word that may come to mind (it certainly does for me), for all the over indulgence that occurred, the constant eating out, the one too many glasses of wine, and for binging on all the edible goodies you may have received from Santa. I remember getting to my ideal weight a couple of years ago and moaning I still had more to lose, but now that I’m WELL over a stone heavier (all thanks to letting myself go), I know it’s time to not only get the weight back off, but to get fitter too, especially with a a trip to Dubai coming up in March. That’s exactly why I’ve paired up with Diet Chef to try out their 8 week plan to see whether I can reap the benefits I’ve heard this meal plan brings to the lives of many. Seeing at 2018 is for all things new, Diet Chef have brought out their new premium plan, with even more fantastic dishes for you to choose from.

The first thing I came to love about Diet Chef was how easy it was to place my order, and more specifically the flexibility you have in picking what you want. For 4 weeks, you pick 28 breakfast items, 28 lunches, 28 dinners and 28 snacks, which come together to create your very own calorie-controlled plan. The options are great, with dishes to suit everyone, whether you’re vegan or absolutely love your meat. After placing my order it arrived the very next day, which again means you can get started as soon as possible. Despite receiving mine on Thursday I decided to start today, 1) because starting on a Monday, the first day of the week seemed sensible and 2) I had a couple of meals out over the weekend so I wanted to enjoy them before the Diet Chef fun began. Another positive about Diet Chef is that there’s no need to store your meals in the fridge, which came as a sigh of relief for me as there’d be no room in the fridge freezer for 28 dinners.

When it comes to meal plans, the first thought that comes to many heads is “will this food actually taste good?”, and from my first day starting my Diet Chef journey today I can safely say the food is really good. I started off my morning with a chocolate flavoured milkshake that you simply add water to, and to my surprise it was really creamy and chocolatey. Breakfast is something I don’t tend to have so having breakfast every morning for the next 8 weeks will be doing me the world of good and in turn set me up for the day ahead. For lunch I had the carrot and coriander soup, and although it may have been a smaller portion from the regular soup I’d have for lunch at work, it was extremely tasty, I’m afraid I’m just going to have to get used to the slight change in portion size. For dinner I had the beef stew with turnip and carrots, which I added to the meal to bulk it up. Again you’re allowed to add dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables in order to complete your meals so the meal plans you have aren’t the be all and end all, you can alter them as long as you make healthy choices. I definitely don’t think the first few days will be easy but once I get used to sizing down and eating more of what’s good for me, I’m sure I will get used to it.

The plan is to do a weekly post on here to keep up to date with my progress, discuss some of the food I’ve had and whether I’ve liked it, loved it or not been too keen on it (my opinions will be 100% honest). I’m hoping that this plan combined with more exercise will result in losing the weight I’ve gained over the past year or so, and help me to feel overall more healthier. Have you ever tried Diet Chef or some sort of weight loss plan, what works for you?

The Luxurious Scent of Mon Guerlain

If there’s one task I’m sure not to forget doing each morning, it’s spraying perfume, and in the rare occasion that I do leave the house forgetting to cover myself in my favourite scents, I feel pretty bare. I’m quite stuck in my ways when it comes to fragrances, sticking to my few favourites starting with my ultimate favourite fragrance… Jimmy Choo, followed by Marc Jacobs, Armani or Paco Rabanne, it’s unlikely that I’ll wear any other perfume if it’s not mentioned in that list.

Mon Guerlain was a perfume I had not only come across through other bloggers, but at the Girls Day Out Show too. After speaking with the lovely Harriet at the event, we met up for a quick coffee the next day to discuss Guerlain and the history behind this fantastic name. Guerlain is a French skincare, cosmetics and perfume house, actually it’s one of the oldest in the world, so here’s some fun facts…Guerlain was founded in 1828, and they made the first ever lipstick back in 1871. If you know this already then you’re doing well, but I was pretty shocked to not know this already, so not only did my senses get to enjoy the scent of the perfume but I learned some quite interesting information too.

The latest perfume from Guerlain is that of Mon Guerlain, a perfume dedicated to femininity, representing strength, freedom and glamour, with Angelina Jolie being the lucky face of the fragrance. I was kindly gifted a 30ml, 100ml, as well as the most amazing smelling candle too. Its packaging is simply gorgeous and sophisticated, with the use of the famous ‘quadrilobe‘ bottle created back in 1908, making this the perfect addition to any dressing table. The bottle itself is supposed to depict a combination of curves and strength, it’s all about empowerment. Presentation is key, and although we buy perfumes based on how they smell, a large part of our decision-making is definitely down to marketing. We’re all guilty of buying a perfume because of the brand name, take for example Tiffany & Co, or we’ll choose a perfume based on the design of the bottle, but really we should be paying more attention to the scent behind the perfume, making sure 1) it’s of high quality and 2) it’s long lasting. Its ingredients include Lavender, Jasmine, Sandalwood and Vanilla, with each ingredient sourced from a different country within the world. I’m completely obsessed with this perfume, I’ll admit, it’s very different from the fragrances I’m used to, but that makes it all the more positive in my eyes as it’s pulled me out of my perfume habits and encouraged me to try new scents.

One thing I’m bad for is spraying so much perfume all over myself because I feel like one spray isn’t enough and doesn’t allow the scent to truly come through, which as a result means I go through perfume like no one’s business. That’s another positive about Mon Guerlain, one spray really is enough, it’s not overpowering but you can smell it straight away, and it’s a much longer lasting fragrance meaning that there’s no need to dig through your handbag to top up throughout the day. It’s a pricey fragrance looking at it from a shopper’s point of view, with a 30ml costing £45, 50ml £68, and 100ml £96, however in my eyes when I think about it, it’s not actually that pricey, why? Because you don’t go through the bottle as quickly, meaning you don’t have to continuously replace it every couple of months, whereas with any other fragrance you can be paying £30 or £40 BUT you need to replace it 2 months later. You are as well paying that little bit extra for a perfume that not only smells amazing but keeps you company for that little bit longer. Mon Guerlain has now been added to my list of favourite fragrances, what’s your favourite fragrances?

November Newbies

Seeing as it’s almost the end of November I thought I’d do a post summing up some new products I’ve recently given a try, you’ve got to admit, we all love reading a little review post and adding products to our ‘to buy’ list. I’m pretty keen on trying out new products, especially products that can be of great benefit to me, specifically with any slight benefit targeting my problematic skin which I’ve had my battles with over the years, and even to this day still do.
evan

Want to soothe those chapped lips? Coconut oil. Want to moisturise your skin? Coconut oil? Need to take off your make-up? Coconut oil. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that coconut oil is the answer to everything, well certainly, it’s my answer to everything. I’ve tried cheap coconut oils from the likes of Superdrug, which have done the trick, but ever since trying out the amazing Evanesce luxury coconut oil, both myself and my skin can tell the difference in terms of the quality of the product and its outcome. To touch, this coconut oil melts straight away on the end of your fingertips, ready to smother yourself with, hydrating your skin and providing it with the nourishment it deserves. With multiple benefits stated, with specific emphasis on how it combats signs of ageing, this coconut oil proves helpful for insect bites, tattoo aftercare, scar/wounds, as well as being an alternative for make-up removal, and lip balm too. My coconut oil routine involves rubbing some on any of my acne marks/redness before bed, and I can tell you with complete honesty that when the morning comes around my redness is totally reduced. So at its usual price of £29 I wouldn’t hesitate in paying for this as my skin reeps the benefits. BUT, I’ll let you in on a little bargain, right now it’s ONLY £14 so snap this up before Black Friday ends.
eyeslicesDo you ever just want to kick back and relax with a face-mask on and some cucumber slices over your eyes, just like you see on the TV? Really though, my idea of relaxing doesn’t involve heading to my local Tesco to purchase a cucumber and cut two slices for my eyes, to then waste the rest of the cucumber and purchase another one the next week to do the exact same with. I’ve found something even better than a cucumber and they’re called Eye Slices, and can be reused up to 10 TIMES, so no need to repeatedly purchase those cucumbers ladies and gentleman. With 20% active ingredients, you can see great results within minutes, with people even referring to these eye slices as a ’10 minute face lift’. Again, like the above coconut oil, these eye slices also bring benefits, targeting puffiness/dark circles, tiredness, redness, in addition to the effects of ageing. Taking them out the packaging I wondered how these could provide an instant cooling sensation without being placed in a fridge for a decent amount of time, could this be possible? It was, popping them on my eyes felt so cooling and soothing, they were very hydrating with their motto ‘relax, restore, revive’ coming to mind. Even after multiple uses, they don’t ever lose their moisture. These are the perfect addition to any relaxing evening, and although I felt extremely relaxed, my eyes felt so fresh. For a lovely little starter pack, which includes 1 pair of eye slices (for up to 10 uses) and a sleeping mask, this will cost you £20, you can check out the products here.

If there’s one thing I couldn’t survive without since its increased popularity is dry shampoo. Whether I’m feeling too lazy to wash my hair or have made last minute plans and just don’t have the time to wash it, dry shampoo proves to be a blessing to my life over the years. What about a dry shampoo that’s wet? Isn’t the purpose of dry shampoo so you don’t have to wet your hair, will dry shampoo that’s wet actually work? These were a few questions I needed answers to so I tried out Zerreau, which is apparently the quickest and easiest way to wash your hair without water. All you have to is apply the wet foam on to your roots, massage into your hair, allowing any dirt, grease, oil or even hair products such as hairspray or gel to be released into the foam. After following these easy steps all you have to do is simply towel dry your hair and style it as you please. My one recurring problem with the likes of dry shampoo is the white streaks it leaves, which makes it look as though I’ve got grey hair coming in at 22 years of age, so I’m very pleased to say that this wasn’t a problem with Zerreau. I’d highly, highly recommend this, not only does it cater for all different hair types, but is so convenient for those with a fast paced lifestyle, those who are constantly on the go, or those who want to enjoy a weekend of camping or living it up at the latest big festival, without feeling unclean. With fragrances such as coconut, apple or strawberry, the retail cost of £3.99 for a 70ml bottle or £7.95 for 180ml seems priceless for fresh looking hair without the water, click here….I know you’re tempted.

If you get the chance to purchase these products then I recommend doing so, they’re an absolute treat, with the coconut oil being my personal favourite – my skin hasn’t felt luxury quite like it. What November newbies have you tried this month, leave a comment below.

Spend Halloween With Me

Halloween, one of my favourite times of the year. I’ve noticed it’s not as big for trick or treating these days as it was when I was a kid, so my Halloween typically involves eating half the little bags of sweets I make up for any of the kids who decide to knock on my door (which proves very few in my area). Since Halloween is fast approaching, I thought it would be extremely appropriate to do a last minute Halloween Goodies post, where I post some of my favourites Halloween themed products this year and how my Halloween will be spent.

So where do I start when it comes to Hotel Chocolat? Well first of all they are one of my favourite chocolate companies, there is nothing more luxury tasting than the chocolate they have to offer, and I really mean that. This year their Halloween range looked too good to resist so working with Hotel Chocolat was a must. From skulls, to pumpkins, vampires, to witches, they sure cover all things Halloween in edible form. I very fortunately got to try both the White Chocolate Eyeballs and the Beastly Halloween Bites Chocolate Selector. The White Chocolate Eyeballs, also known as oozy eyes, were certainly oozy, filled with a delicious caramel filling making it ‘frightful but delightful‘. Costing £6.00 these are a very relevant treat for this upcoming Halloween, and if the kids are too scared to eat them…then all the more for you. If the white chocolate wasn’t amazing, combined with the molten caramel, they become all the more tastier, Hotel Chocolat definitely made the right decision with this product. These eyeballs are followed by the Beastly Halloween Bites Chocolate Selector which certainly caught my eye (I laughed typing this just because of the white chocolate eyeballs, I’m not that funny I know). These are a pack of ghoulish and ghostly chocolates featuring “Boo!” which are white truffles, Pumpkin salted caramel chocolates and “Ghostly Goul” with the addition of some thick caramel. My favourite were the white truffles, but I wouldn’t turn down any of the other two if offered them as they were equally tasty. Costing £3.85 I thought these were adorable, can you say something like that is adorable? I’m not sure but the designs on them were great and I think Hotel Chocolat captured the art of Halloween perfectly with these chocolates. So, if you fancy a night in with some chocolates in front of a spooky movie, purchase them from Hotel Chocolat, if you’re going to get chocolate then you deserve only the best.

If you’re not getting dressed up this year with all the fancy dress malarky for going out then why not get dressed up to stay in. Absolute Cult is an online company selling officially licensed merchandise whether it be music related, movie related, your favourite comic book superhero, in addition to many other global pop culture characters.   You really could spend hours on their website, with pages upon pages of t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies, and vests of everything imaginable, choosing becomes almost impossible. Now in the majority of people’s eyes The Nightmare Before Christmas is both a Halloween and Christmas movie, so with it being one I was fond of I knew I had to pick something from this range. In the end I went for the ‘Jack and Sally Love‘ sweatshirt, which costs £28.99, so this will be on eager display next week. Going for a size small turned out to be a comfortable fit, featuring high quality material which makes it worth the money. With the weather starting to drastically change, this is a super cosy sweater but it doesn’t just have great use for Halloween, but for all year round too. I’d wear this with some black ripped skinny jeans and a pair of Chelsea boots. So if you don’t want to dress up as the typical Harley Quinn or wonder woman, go for some Halloween inspired clothing instead. Absolute Cult is a new website I’ll be sure to consider in the future, especially with them offering such a wonderful Disney range.

Popcorn. Popcorn. Popcorn. I just can’t get enough of it. Towards the end of last year I discovered a popcorn company like no other and they go by the name of Popcorn Shed (you can read my review of them by clicking here). Two of the three flavours they offer which I’ve picked out for this Halloween post are Salted Caramel and Pecan Pie. For 3 sheds of popcorn (yes their popcorn comes in little sheds, which makes me love them even more) it will cost you £9.99, and one shed will certainly keep you going a while due to its richness and flavouring. These would be the ideal companion for keeping you company through all those spooky movies you might be planning to watch so grab a shed and make your horror movie experience all the tastier.

Well that was my mini Halloween roundup and how I’ll be spending my Halloween this year, although there may not be much of the chocolates left considering I’ve been heavily tucking into them as I type this up. How are you spending your Halloween this year?
