Now I’m not a big drinker, I never have been and I probably never will be. With that being said though I would never say no to a good old cocktail. Count me in. I’ll be there. Pass me the cocktail menu NOW.
Getting dressed up for a little cocktail date will always appeal to me, however, I’ve recently learned that becoming ever so popular are cocktail deliveries, whether pre-made bottled cocktails or kits for making your own. My weekends have been pretty fun lately getting my hands on some amazing at home cocktail experiences, bar quality….but all from the comfort of my own home. What more could you ask for?
Coming across ProCocktails was love at first sight for me and it’s no wonder, they really do put the pro in professional. Everything from the cocktails themselves, the packaging and the uniqueness really makes them the ‘full cocktail experience‘, which they so proudly emphasise.
I was kindly gifted one of their Pornstar Martini cocktail sets, which consisted of a 1000ml bottle of Pornstar Martini, a mini bottle of Prosecco, garnishes (passion-fruit of course), two martini glasses and a cocktail shaker. Now for someone who doesn’t own a shaker but loves a good cocktail, this was exciting! For that night I got to be the “mixologist” and shake away till my heart was content.
I can’t tell you how many Pornstar Martinis I’ve tried over the years as I’ve lost count, but there have been many and some are an absolute HIT, whereas some have been a complete miss. This is what happens when you’ve had one truly amazing one which sets the standards high.
Would ProCocktails meet the Pornstar Martini standard (more so my standard)? They surpassed it. There was the typical foam at the top after shaking my wrists till they were numb, the passion-fruit garnish which gave it that bar finished look, and of course the shot of Prosecco that I so eagerly tipped in (yes I’m a tipper when it comes to the tip it vs. shot it debate). This was one truly delicious cocktail and let’s just say that I got through that 1000ml bottle quicker than I ever would have anticipated.
After my response to the Pornstar Martini I knew I had to try out some of the other cocktails on offer, and so ProCocktails kindly allowed me to choose some more to try out from the comfort of my own home. I went for the Valentina, Berry Mary and a classic Strawberry Daiquiri, and from that moment on it became evident that cocktail deliveries were now my favourite type of deliveries.
Now what is ideal about these bottled cocktails is that you have the size option, either a 500ml bottle (serves up to 4 cocktails) or 1000ml (serves up to 8 cocktails). 500ml is good if you’re trying out a few different cocktails but when they’re that good, you end up wishing you had went for the 1000ml purchase so be wise with your decision-making. Each cocktail always comes with the garnish, which I do feel gives off the bar vibes and is a lovely finishing touch. You also have the option to add on a shaker and the glasses the particular cocktail would be served in. Full cocktail experience, am I right?
The Valentina cocktail consists of premium rum, melon liqueur, passion-fruit liqueur, apple liqueur, passion-fruit puree, orange juice, pineapple juice, lemon juice and vanilla syrup….so quite a bit of alcohol and quite a bit of fruit juice. For that reason this one screamed ‘HOLIDAY VIBES’ and was up there with the Pornstar Martini standard. Again, the garnish gave it a more professional look and in my eyes, it gives the cocktail its own identity.
The Berry Mary was another cocktail I tried out and this one consisted of premium gin, blackberry liqueur, blueberry juice, lemon juice, simple syrup, fresh rosemary and wild blueberry jam. Like I said above, you have the option to purchase the glasses that this cocktail is typically served in. With the glass for the Berry Marry being a glass jar I eagerly added this to my order so that the cocktail would look the part. Like the Valentina this was a cocktail I had never tried before and with me being quite adventurous when it comes to trying new cocktails, I was happy to find out that I had made the right decision in ordering this, it went down a treat.
Finally…the Strawberry Daiquiri. I’ve tried this cocktail a handful of times but it’s always nice to try it from somewhere different to see what it’s like. This wouldn’t be my first choice of cocktail to order if I’m out at a bar and that’s exactly why I decided to give it a try again to see what I thought. It consists of premium rum, strawberry liqueur, strawberry puree, lime juice and simple syrup. This was one good daiquiri, so much so that I would be tempted to try this cocktail more regularly when I’m out and about. It was lovely and sweet with just the right amount of strawberry puree.
You can follow ProCocktails on Instagram and you can also order or enquire via Whatsapp. Cocktails start from £29.95, which I think is great as these bottled cocktails can serve between 4 and 8 cocktails depending on the size and you can end up paying £10 or more for a single cocktail at certain bars. Delivery is really quick too which is a bonus when it’s the most exciting package being delivered to your door, and the cocktails last for around 2 weeks, although they are best sipped before then.
I can’t wait to work my way through the rest of ProCocktail’s range, especially now that you can personalise the bottles….I may end up sticking Holly on them all so that no one in my household touches them.
Another company I’ve been fortunate enough to work with recently are Cocktail Porter who offer amazing at home cocktail kits in the click of a button, it really is that easy. All you have to do is choose your cocktail kit size and the cocktail you fancy making at home, and Cocktail Porter will deliver straight to your door for you to shake, make and enjoy.
The cocktail kits include a variety of premium spirits, garnishes and the recipe card with step by step instructions for how to make the most delicious cocktail. The kits come in two different sizes, there is the petite kit (£45) which makes you 6 cocktails and there is the full size cocktail (£85) which makes for 17, if not more.
The cocktail connoisseurs behind this genius kit have selected several different cocktails that you can choose from to make at home. There is the Johnnie Walker Highball, an Espresso Martini, an Elderflower ‘Le Fizz’ Spritz or a Passionfruit Margarita. These kits don’t come short of ingredients, with ice being the only thing you really need to provide yourself. Talk about simplicity!
I was kindly gifted the Elderflower ‘Le Fizz’ Spritz Petite Kit which consists of 4 50ml bottles of Grey Goose vodka, 2 50ml bottles of St. Germain elderflower liqueur, 2 200ml bottles of double dutch soda water, fresh limes and Persian rose buds (garnish). You can already tell from that list that Cocktail Porter use only the premium spirits and high quality ingredients to ensure your cocktail experience is one to remember, and I couldn’t wait to get cocktail making as soon as the kit arrived.
Shortly after picking my chosen cocktail kit it wasn’t long before it arrived and my first thought was how well it was packaged. Arriving in a Cocktail Porter box I opened this as quick as my hands would let me and was met with the cocktail recipe card on top, which provides step by step instructions for making the most delicious cocktails. Underneath all the neatly packaged straw were the ingredients, all positioned perfectly, with even more hidden underneath. This really is the definition of a cocktail kit.
Putting the cocktail together couldn’t be easier and this is what I loved about this kit, Cocktail Porter do the work for you by putting the kit together, all you have to do is enjoy and that’s exactly what I done with this cocktail. This cocktail tastes wonderful, it is so refreshing and one I could picture myself sipping in a garden on a late Summer’s evening. The Persian rose buds are a lovely garnish to finish this one off, and this cocktail comes across as expensive and sophisticated, which may be a weird description but with premium ingredients like the ones involved it’s no wonder. My next stop for Cocktail Porter will definitely be the Passionfruit Margarita as this sounds like my cup of tea (alcoholic tea).
Well that’s two amazing at home cocktail experiences I’ve had the pleasure of trying recently, and not only are these great for letting your hair down and enjoying an alcoholic beverage or two over the weekend, these would also make fantastic gifts as they are both truly unique, bar quality cocktail experiences, and I must emphasise the word EXPERIENCE. It’s companies like this that really change the cocktail world and can turn you into a cocktail connoisseur. What do you think of these and what’s your favourite cocktail?
