If there’s one place I’ll keep going back to, it’s Dubai. Funnily enough, it’s a place I put off going to for so long as it really didn’t appeal to me in the slightest. Three trips later between March 2018 and now, I’m completely head over heels in love with the city and have been since the first Emirates flight I ever boarded touched down in the UAE.
Dubai is a place where I feel so at home, despite it being over 8000 miles away from the place I actually call home. Why? Well for one, there’s many things that attract me to Dubai, the stunning architecture that makes it so distinct, the unbearable yet bearable heat, and of course the extravagant social life that individuals can have over there if they so wish.
Now after you’ve seen Dubai’s most famous and impressive attractions such as the the grand Burj Al Arab or the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, there’s nothing better than taking advantage of the one great thing that makes Dubai so appealing to all us holidaymakers…the weather. When I’ve been fortunate enough to visit, the weather typically remained between 30 and 35 degrees, however, on my most recent trip the temperature reached well over a whopping 40 degrees. Whilst for those venturing out from places that don’t experience heat on that sort of level, it can be unbearable, however, with some of the finest hotels in the world, you won’t be short of a pool to lounge around….which brings me on to the point of this post.
Ladies day is a BIG thing in Dubai with some of its first class hotels and party hot spots offering all day entry to its pool(s), with delicious little nibbles to pick at and free-flowing drinks included, all for an incredibly reasonable price. What more could you ask for?
Whilst you can find some of the ladies day deals for every day of the week here, I’m going to share my top 3 ladies days I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing, in order to show you that you can enjoy luxury in Dubai without having to break the bank.
If I was to mention Zero Gravity, I’d be surprised if you hadn’t heard of this place before, Justin Bieber’s even aware of it and has found himself sunning it up there. However, if I mentioned Andreeas, which is located a minute’s walk along from the famous Zero Gravity, you may not be as familiar of this, but you should be, it’s JUST as good.
Located at the Habtoor Grand Resort, like most ladies day, this is another that you’ll be taken to by golf buggy – with this sort of treatment it’s no wonder you may end up getting lazy. With the skyscrapers of Dubai Marina in the background and the crystal blue waters of the Arabian sea only a stone throw away, this is a pool day that will get you in the party mood without being wild.
The pool stole my heart, with its swim up bar and sun-loungers IN the actual pool, meaning I could work on my tan with a cocktail in hand, all whilst maintaining a comfortable body temperature. PLUS, the pool is now three times larger than its original size after a massive refurbishment, which made me love it even more when I visited the second time round.
Andreeas offers a ladies day on Thursdays and Saturdays from 12pm to 6pm for 125 AED (around £26). This involves pool access, a mixed food platter and unlimited frozen beverages such as daiquiris and margaritas. Unlimited? Yes, unlimited. The staff are constantly coming round with cocktail after cocktail making sure all of your alcoholic needs are fulfilled. When you need something to line your stomach from all the frozen cocktails, the food platter will do the trick, with the likes of grilled chicken skewers, shrimp skewers or sushi, french fries, and on my most recent visit two miniature cakes for dessert. This is a pool day I’d return to as I’m in love with the in-pool sun loungers and the fact you can get the best of both worlds with the gorgeous pool or the beautiful white sandy beach.
Dubai really has something to suit everyone’s needs, so if you’re looking for somewhere with a party and lots of entertainment then ‘Not Another Ladies Day‘ at Wet Deck is the place for you. Located at W Dubai – The Palm, you are guaranteed to have one hell of a time at one of Dubai’s latest spots.
Every Sunday between 12pm and 4pm you will gain pool and beach access, unlimited drinks, lunch and entertainment that will keep you in the party spirit for just 150 AED (£30). Once you’ve paid, you are given a glamorous disco ball cup for unlimited refills of the likes of Vodka, gin, or some freshly shaken cocktails made in front of your very own eyes by some lovely bartenders, either from the swim up bar or the pop up bar by the pool. On route to deciding where you’d like to park up for the day to catch some sun, you have to walk (or strut) down the pink carpet with upside down mannequin legs along the catwalk. Unique.
Lunch included either a chicken katsu curry, some sort of beef dish and a vegetarian dish. I went for the chicken katsu curry and it didn’t disappoint, and I’m sure the other remaining dishes on the menu wouldn’t either. As for the disco ball cups, these went down a treat, making this place stand out and allowing me to take a little bit of Dubai home with me – yes you get to keep the cup. Now and again you may still see me sipping from my cup pretending I’m still in paradise.
Throughout the day, you are continuously being entertained, whether by the DJ playing remixes of ‘absolute bangers‘, someone playing all of the latest chart hits on a SAXOPHONE, and entertainers on stilts busting a move, or ditching the stilts and doing acrobatic moves that will make you out of breath just from watching.
I can now see where it gets the name ‘not another ladies day’ from, as it’s a ladies day with a fun twist and will have you wanting to party right through till the crack of dawn.
Located at the One and Only Royal Mirage is Drift, one of Dubai’s hottest spots and home to my favourite pool day. Described as being ‘a bespoke seafront destination where luxury beach chic meets casual simplicity’ , this may be a bold statement but I can argue that it is a truthful one. If ever your favourite reality star is on a trip to Dubai, I’m 99.9% sure you’ll see a picture on your Instagram feed of them posing at this picturesque spot.
Upon arrival, you are carted by buggy to Drift, which is just the beginning of the five star treatment. This is one thing I can never seem to get my head around in Dubai, everything is done for you, a five minute walk to Drift from the car park appears to be somewhat of an effort and so you are driven down there by the lovely staff. Not that I’m complaining, a week of feeling like royalty in this city is nice, and of course well and truly appreciated. Although, as soon as I return home, the tiara fades and I go back to being the ‘wee‘ girl from Scotland who has the same accent as Shrek.
Once dropped off at this stunning seafront location, your Drift experience begins. The place is absolutely beautiful, and screams elegance and class. I’ve always been lucky enough to grab beds by the pool so if you turn up early enough you should be able to do the same. From that moment on, the staff are all over you, laying your beds out on the towel, bringing you water and a fruit platter. Drift is all about the service, and they pull out all the stops in providing it.
Unlike a lot of ladies day, lunch isn’t included in the price but with the option of the gorgeous outdoor lunch area beside the bar or the restaurant indoors, you are spoilt for choice with the options on the food menu. From small bites, to pizzas, to sandwiches, I’ve worked my way through a lot of the menu and can highly recommend the salted fish croquettes, the Arabic mezze and any of the pizza options. Good food with a view like something out of a postcard is always worth the extra cash. After lunch if you’re wanting to freshen up, the shower rooms are filled with all of the latest toiletries to keep you smelling fresh – added touches that score extra brownie points.
Entry usually costs 250 AED (around £53) but every Monday and Tuesday ladies can gain entry to this vibrant place for half the price, 125 AED (around £20). This price includes a sun-lounger, bottled water, the fruit platter and a glass of their signature cocktail ‘Le Rose‘ shortly after arriving. After a dip in the pool, this fruity watermelon cocktail is truly refreshing and goes down a treat. If you’re more of a beach person, then you’re in luck as with the beach right on its doorstep and Dubai’s iconic skyline standing tall in the background, you can park yourself on a sun-lounger down by the sea. Drift’s chic decor and relaxed atmosphere makes this a place not be missed should you find yourself in Dubai.
I think from this post I have emphasised the popularity of ladies day in Dubai, and out of the several that I’ve tried across my three trips these are by far my favourite ladies day spots in Dubai. I’m sure the more I explore Dubai over the years, I’ll be adding to this list and end up with a top 10 but for now I’ll stick with the above.
