If you read my latest post you will have seen that A Daily Dose of Holly officially turned ONE on Saturday, I feel like a proud mum. Saturday marked a milestone in my blogging history after numerous failed attempts at blogging since being a teenager…I guess that deserves a round of applause. So, how did I celebrate my “blogiversary”? By eating lots of cake of course, how else would you celebrate such an occasion?
With a collaboration involving cake popping up at the perfect time, I couldn’t refuse the offer and decided the cake would be ideal for celebrating this such day. Bakerdays are an online company who create personalised cakes for all occasions, yep that includes your blogs birthday too. With prices starting from as little as £14.99 and cake being delivered straight to your door, I couldn’t think of anything better. On their site are pages upon pages of cake designs for you to choose from, however if you want something bespoke then they’ll go the extra mile without hesitation to create the cake for you. I chose the floral fusion design that was already on offer on their website, however the personal touches, where I got to get more involved was when choosing what I wanted written on the cake and the type of sponge I wanted. I opted for the chocolate sponge and as expected, my blog name on the front. After placing my order with the lovely Lizzy and Emma I patiently waited to arrive home from work the next day to this edible parcel.
In addition to arriving in the cutest little cake tin you don’t JUST receive a cake, but balloons, a party horn and candles…so basically a party in a box. I’m always quite skeptical about edible goods being delivered to my house, specifically when it comes to cake, I was half expecting it to arrive bashed and in bits but I can assure you every little morsel of the cake was intact and ready to be stuffed in my mouth, after I shared it out first.
I’m funny when it comes to icing so I was happy to find it was of great proportion, nice and thin, meaning I didn’t need to peel the icing off like I do with the majority of cakes I purchase or are bought for me. The chocolate sponge was one of the best decisions I made, it was so good and a nice little change from the original sponge I would typically get. For a letterbox cake this was a a lovely little size and allowed me to cut 4 generous slices of cake to allow myself to have two (since I’m the blogger) and my stepdad and mum one each. We all sat nibbling away, wanting and wishing for the cake to be everlasting. Thanks to bakerdays for allowing me to have a nice little evening celebrating the success of A Daily Dose of Holly, I would highly recommend these letterbox cakes as a gift for anyone, whether Birthday, Christmas or any occasion for that matter, cake can be eaten 365 days a year remember.
