Cosy Nights In

Cosy Nights In

We’re all prone to a cosy night in, maybe more than we should (well certainly in my case) but sometimes it’s nice to have some down time and do absolutely nothing. With my dissertation deadline looming all I want to do is relax without it constantly being on my mind and certainly without feeling guilty for any lazy day or night that I have. However, with it being due THIS MONTH, I really need to start giving up these cosy nights for a lot more proof reading, tweaking, and studying for my four final uni exams ever. Despite this, I thought I’d put this post together with some of the things I do when I’m having a cosy night in alongside some ideal products to only make your night in that extra bit cosier.

Cosy nights in aren’t complete without a dressing gown or a blanket to wrap yourself up in whilst watching movie after movie. So whether you’re tucked up in bed or on the sofa watching movies or having a Netflix binge, blankets can be a great little accessory for snuggling up with. Recently mermaid blankets are a big thing and I’m yet to try one of these out, but I love the fact your feet can’t escape from these so they won’t ever be exposed to the cold, one thing I absolutely hate with my typically ice cold feet. Now, speaking of movies if I’m wanting a nice little movie night I’ll typically go for some movies that make me feel good inside, or even a little tear shedder, there’s no in between with me. Some of my favourites are The Notebook, The Last Song (there’s a Nicholas Sparks pattern here isn’t there), a sing along movie such as Hairspray or a good old Disney movie like Toy Story or The Lion King. Just the other night I watched a really good movie called Miss You Already and it absolutely broke my heart, it was one of those “pass me the tissues” type of films so if that’s up your street then give it a watch. You need to make sure you have plenty of goodies though, my personal favourite is salted popcorn, and all those packets of sweets you can get for 3 for £1 in the likes of Asda go down a hit with me.

Pillows are so important and I feel like the right pillow can allow you to have the best sleep possible and provide you with so much extra comfort. I’ve never really been too bothered about pillow types, just anything that feels comfy enough for my head to rest on but that’s changed now after trying out this next pillow I’m about to talk about. Bamboo memory foam pillows? Does that not just sound heavenly? Well My Panda Life are a company that came about searching for the best quality bed linen that was both ecological and environmentally friendly. After discovering bamboo viscose fabric they realised this was the material they had been looking for with its environmental benefits. Why bamboo you may ask? Well here are some reasons why you should choose this bamboo luxury pillow:

  • Soft – the pillow is immensely soft with bamboo fabric being twice as soft as cotton so you are guaranteed extra comfort.
  • Hypoallergenic – bamboo is naturally antibacterial so this helps protect against skin irritation and allergies making this pillow suitable for all skin types whether you suffer from eczema or have sensitive skin (I have extremely sensitive skin and I’ve not once had issues with the pillow).
  • Easy care – bamboo requires less washing than do some other pillows as well as no more than a 30 degree wash. In addition, it has quicker drying time and refrains from creasing/wrinkling.
  • Climate Control – this material responds to temperature, so is warmer during those Winter nights, and cooler during heated temperatures.

I can’t even begin to explain just how amazing this pillow actually is, you sink right into it and don’t need to continuously move around to get comfortable. David and I are always moaning over who’s having a turn on it that I wish I had gotten more than one. I also love the panda at the top left hand corner, which adds a cute little touch. These pillows are priced at £89.99 and you can get them here – one thing to note is that if you purchase one of these fantastic pillows you have a 30 night trial, and if you’re not happy with it then Panda Life will deal with the rest. I’ve never been so happy with a bed product before until now and since trying out one of these pillows I don’t think I could possibly go back to any other type of pillow. Panda Life are the way forward.

Candles can also add some ambience, especially if they’re scented. I love candles, there’s nothing more relaxing than a burning candle, but even better if your room is left smelling of some unique scent. These candles are from a brand named Landon Tyler whose 12 fragrances have been developed with some of the best ingredients, with the aim of filling your room with these gorgeous scents, to create “moments and memories for every season.” The candle on the left goes by the name Dark Cashmere costing £10, and this is defined as a “masculine cologne fragrance”. I’m so used to sweet smelling candles, with the usual fruity scents but this was a much deeper fragrance, which was something very different. Masculine is certainly the word to describe it as stated on the website – a strong smell, mixing it up from the typical candle fragrances in the market. On the right, the bigger candle costs £15 and its scent is inspired by its name… Tuscan Garden. This is described as a leafy scent with ingredients such as lemon, ginger and musk. This was such a refreshing candle, smelling of nature, the forest, all things green and countryside. Out of the two, this was definitely my favourite. If you’re having a night in and don’t want to set foot outside, why not bring the outdoors inside with the Tuscan Garden candle. Both these candles have up to 40 hours burning time so these will last you for a lifetime of cosy nights and will only add to the relaxing atmosphere you so long to create. You can check out their products here.

I don’t know about you but in the Winter my hands and feet, particularly my feet are always ice cold so I’m continuously spending my nights walking around the house in cosy, fluffy socks trying to build up any sort of heat possible. Now if you want a cosy night in the whole idea is that you’re actually all snug and warm so one way to combat my cold feet issue is with Heat Holders slipper socks. “The warmest thermal sock in the world” is how the brand best describe their socks as well as the other products they now offer such as thermal underwear, hats, gloves, tights and leggings. I got the Minnie Mouse slipper socks* (size 4-8) priced at £9.99 as I’m a big Disney fan and as soon as they arrived I could tell these were going to be my new best friend. When you feel the inside of the sock you can instantly tell this is a high quality product that will provide your feet with instant heat just as the brand aims to achieve. As soon as I slipped these on it took less than a matter of minutes for my feet to become super cosy, therefore I’d give Heat Holders 10/10 for doing as they say, if not more. There are a range of different socks on their site and you can check them out over here. I just love the fact they have Disney socks, with little minnie mouses on the sole of the sock when you walk looking like tiny footprints (see above). These socks are genuinely a dream come true for my feet that if I’m to buy any more in the future then they’d HAVE to be from Heat Holders.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, what do you do when you’re having a cosy night in?

This is probably an odd question, but how do the pillows smell? Any memory foam pillows I’ve had previously have had a very strong smell that stops me from sleeping

    • March 5, 2017 / 10:55 am

Not an odd question at all, I’m quite funny about things like that too. I once had like a scented teddy and it was so strong I could never sleep. I don’t feel this pillow smells at all!

Adorable socks, and great idea for a giveaway! Definitely have the same idea for a cozy night in – candles, snuggled on the couch under a cushy blanket, with a nice big bowl of homemade popcorn to eat whilst watching something on TV. In fact, planning to do this tonight!

I’ve seen these pillows around a lot lately and I’ve been meaning to try them as my boyfriend and I really struggle with getting comfy at night. Candles, hot baths and calm music are my go-to’s for unwinding and getting relaxed!

Comfy clothes and warm blankets are essentials for a cozy night in! I have a mermaid blanket… I thought it would just be a cute thing to have, but have found it’s actually super practical! It stays wrapped around my legs and, like you said, my feet can’t slip out and get cold! 🙂

    • March 7, 2017 / 9:28 pm

I love a good blanket or some fleece pyjamas, especially when the nights are so cold. I’ll need to purchase one of these mermaid blankets for myself!
